Hungry Elephant Framed photograph, H58 x W69cm
Taken in 1936, this iconic photograph depicts an elephant named Mae West accepting an apple from a passing tram driver while taking her morning exercise along Gray’s Inn Road, London. Mae was helping to publicise the Christmas bazaar at Gamages department store at the time.
This photograph has been carefully hand-exposed and hand-retouched from an original negative by skilled master printers in the UK for the highest possible quality print. Resin prints such as this piece also feature a plastic emulsion surface coating and are then framed with archivally sound materials to ensure longevity. This beautiful artwork will arrive stamped and will also be provided with a certificate of authenticity. Each frame uses a traditional painted wood with a classic 4" mount and features a wire for effortless hanging.
