WHEN SHOULD WE SET UP OUR WEDDING LIST?
You can set up your wedding list as far in advance of the wedding date as you would like but we advise you to choose all of the gifts for your list prior to your wedding invitations being sent out. This is traditionally eight to ten weeks before the wedding date. If you decide to add more gifts once your list is live, that is absolutely fine. You can keep on adding right up until your wedding day!

BUILDING YOUR LIST
DO I NEED TO VISIT A SHOWROOM TO BUILD MY WEDDING LIST?
We are proud to have a team of highly trained advisors who are full of inspirational gift ideas, product information and helpful wedding list advice. Whilst you can easily build your whole list online in the comfort of your own home, you may want to come in to one of our showrooms and look at our huge range of samples and speak to a friendly advisor. They may inspire you to add lots of products you had never thought of adding previously. Your personal advisor will register you, guide you through an extensive product check list, and help you with anything you need.
IS THERE ENOUGH CHOICE AND WILL OUR TASTES BE MET?
We sell thousands of products from over 300 of the world’s leading brands, which enables you to choose from a vast selection of gifts across all styles, tastes and price ranges. Our buying team have selected the most popular items for our website, from everyday essentials to more luxury, unique gifts. Our online and in-store advisors are up to date with what’s on trend so you’ll be able to choose from the latest collections to suit your individual lifestyle. HOW MANY GIFTS SHOULD I ADD TO MY LIST?
The more gifts you add to your list – the better! We advise at least three gifts per wedding invitation. Choosing a gift for you should be enjoyable for your guests and the more choice they have, the more fun it will be for them! It also saves them the trouble of having to go off list to find you something. The most important thing is to have lots of fun gifts in each price bracket. Once you have compiled your list, your advisor will be happy to look at it and offer gifting advice and product recommendations.
WHAT GIFTS SHOULD I BE ADDING TO MY LIST?
You can add anything you would like to your list, but do bear in mind that your guests will have different budgets and so it is important to add fun, inspiring gifts in all different price brackets. WE ONLY WANT A FEW LARGE ITEMS ON OUR WEDDING LIST. CAN OUR GUESTS CONTRIBUTE TO THESE ITEMS?
Yes, absolutely. We can add vouchers onto your list so your guests can contribute towards these items. We can also personalize the vouchers for you to make it more fun.
ARE YOUR PRICES COMPETITIVE?
Yes, our suppliers provide us with recommended retail prices and we adhere to these. We do not charge anything over this amount.
ARE THERE ANY CHARGES FOR THE SERVICE?
Our service is completely complimentary. There are no hidden fees.
HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR MONEY?
We operate in the same way other retailers operate. We buy the products directly from our brand partners and sell them to you at the recommended retail price. We do not make any margin on the honeymoon contributions, cash contributions or charity contributions.
HOW WILL OUR GUESTS KNOW WHERE OUR LIST IS REGISTERED?
We can provide you with small notification cards that discreetly advise your guests where you have placed your wedding list. Alternatively, we can provide you with a personal link that will direct your guests to your wedding list. You can also share your unique URL via your own social media platforms.
HOW CAN OUR GUESTS PURCHASE FROM THE WEDDING LIST?
Your guests can purchase a gift via our website or they can call a member of our sales team who will be happy to guide them through your gift list. Choosing a gift should be fun and we want your guests to feel delighted with their selection. Your guests can also pop into one of our three showrooms to choose a gift where they will be greeted with a smile and friendly advice.
IS THE WEDDING SHOP WEBSITE SECURE?
Our website uses SSL encryption technology to ensure all credit card transactions are completely secure.
WHEN SHOULD WE MAKE OUR LIST LIVE?
You can make your list live at any stage and you can keep adding gifts even once it is live. Your list can also stay open for up to a year after your wedding date making it very easy for your guests to buy a gift long after the occasion.
WHAT IS THE WEDDING SHOP GIFT CARD, AND WHAT CAN I USE IT WITH?
We provide a Wedding Shop Gift Card option on each of our couples’ gift list, in order that your guests have the option to pledge a sum of money to you, in the event that all items in keeping with their gift budget are no longer available. The Wedding Shop gift card can be redeemed against items offered by any of our 350 brand partners. Please note, the gift card cannot be exchanged for cash, or redeemed against custom products, but is valid until you complete your gift selection.
HOW DO I REMOVE THE WEDDING SHOP GIFT CARD OPTION FROM MY LIST?
Should you prefer not to have the Gift Card option within your list, this can be easily removed. Simply log in to your account via our website, choose the ‘Your list’ tab, then scroll to find the ‘Gift Card’. You can then simply choose the ‘off’ option. Alternatively, please contact the Customer Care team who will be happy to carry this out on your behalf.
HOW DOES THE HONEYMOON CONTRIBUTION WORK?
We understand that you may wish for your guests to contribute towards your honeymoon rather than purchase a traditional wedding gift. We have a huge selection of unique honeymoon experiences on our website to choose from, or you can create your very own personal honeymoon fund using your own images and unique ideas! We are the only wedding list provider on the market who will not charge a fixed fee or take a commission on the balance that you build in your fund. The full balance that you build in your honeymoon fund will be placed in a secure Trust Account and will be transferred to you, in full, upon request after the wedding.
CAN MY GUESTS CONTRIBUTE TO A CHARITY OF MY CHOICE?
We have many of the country’s most popular charities on our website, but if there is a charity that is particularly close to you, just let your advisor know and we will contact them to set up the account. It is incredibly important to us that the full balance in your charity fund is donated to the charity of choice and so after the wedding, we will make the transfer on your behalf along with a personal message from you. The charity will also benefit from the Gift Aid scheme, therefore increasing the amount of the donation.
I HAVE SEEN A PRODUCT I LOVE BUT CANNOT FIND THE BRAND OR PRODUCT ON YOUR WEBSITE. HOW DO I ADD IT TO MY LIST?
We want you to have the list of your dreams and although we have over 40,000 products to choose from on our website, we understand that there may be items that you would love to add that are not available from one of our brand partners. You can add a custom gift through your online account under the tab “add an item from another website” by entering the products URL.
If the item/s are purchased by a guest, we will send you an e-mail asking whether you would like us to go ahead and order the item straight away for you. We advise you to go ahead with this as it means there is less chance of an item becoming unavailable or changing in price. Alternatively, you can wait until after the wedding to decide if you would like to take this product or swap it for another item within our brand offering. Unlike other wedding list providers, we offer no limits on the amount of custom products you decide to add to your list!
HOW DO I DISCREETLY ASK MY GUESTS FOR CASH?
Your guests can contribute towards absolutely anything of your choice. Perhaps you are saving for a new kitchen or maybe you would like a little help towards buying the home of your dreams! The choice is endless. We have some inspiring ideas to choose from on our website, but if you would like to create a fund that is entirely unique, just let your personal advisor know and they will create it for you. As with the honeymoon contributions, the full balance that you build in your cash fund will be placed in a secure Trust Account and will be transferred to you, in full, upon request after the wedding.
Can I add a combination of Cash, Honeymoon and charity contributions as well as products?
Yes, of course. You can add absolutely anything you would like to your list. There are no limits to this. We want you to have the perfect list with no restrictions, so whether you would like your guests to contribute towards flying lessons or buy you a crystal decanter, you can choose the list of your dreams. You really can have it all!
HOW DO WE KNOW OUR WEDDING LIST MONEY IS SECURE?
The Wedding Shop operates a separate, secure client Trust Account at C.Hoare & Co to hold all the monies to settle your list. This means you can be certain that all of your beautiful wedding gifts will arrive safely. This level of financial security makes us unique in the market and therefore there isn’t a safer place in the UK to have your list.
CLOSING YOUR LIST
WHEN SHOULD WE CLOSE OUR LIST
This is entirely up to you. You have the option of keeping your list open for up to a year after your wedding date, or you can close it straight after the wedding. Some guests are a little slower than others and may purchase a gift after the wedding so keeping it open is helpful for them.
HOW DO I ORDER MY GIFTS
In order to provide you with a completely flexible wedding list, we won’t place any orders with the suppliers until we receive your confirmed order. You can place your order by logging into your account and clicking on ‘Order your gifts’, or you can speak to your advisor who will be happy to confirm your order on your behalf. We recommend that you order your gifts within three months of your wedding date as some items may become discontinued. Should you choose to confirm your order after this time, that is no problem but please do bear in mind that some suppliers discontinue products from time to time.
WHAT HAPPENS IF AN ITEM IS DISCONTINUED?
If an item on your list becomes discontinued by one of our suppliers, we will credit your account and ask you to select an alternative product.
CAN WE CHANGE OUR MIND ABOUT SOME OF THE GIFTS ON THE LIST?
We offer complete flexibility in the final ordering of any of the gifts from our 300 brand partners. You can even order items that were not on your original list.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M NOT READY TO ORDER MY PRESENTS WHEN I RETURN FROM HONEYMOON?
This is no problem at all. Perhaps you are moving home or taking time off to travel? Whatever your plans, your balance will remain on your account until you are ready to place your order.
IS THERE A DISCOUNT AVAILABLE IF WE DECIDE TO SPEND MORE THAN OUR BALANCE?
We offer our valued clients a lifetime discount of 10% on any product from our 300 brand partners. Perfect for Anniversary gifts or Birthday gifts!
DO YOU OFFER COMPLIMENTARY DELIVERY?
Delivery of your gifts is completely free in mainland UK and Republic of Ireland. There is absolutely no charge for you or your guests.
CAN YOU OFFER FREE DELIVERIES ON SATURDAYS?
Delivery is completely free anywhere in the UK and Ireland from Monday – Saturday. Sunday delivery is also available upon request.
WE WILL BE MOVING ABROAD, WILL YOU BE ABLE TO SHIP OUR GIFTS OVERSEAS FOR US?
Yes absolutely. We can handle all of this for you. Once all of your gifts have arrived safely in our warehouse, we will provide you with shipping quotes and can either deliver your gifts to you via our nominated freight forwarder, or we can deliver them to a freight company of your choice. You will also be entitled to a VAT refund if delivery is outside of the EU.
WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR GIFTS?
Whilst most of your items will arrive very quickly, we quote 8-10 weeks for everything to arrive in our warehouse. This is because in order for us to be able to offer the tens of thousands of products available from all of our brands, the orders we place with our suppliers are made specifically on behalf of our customers. Many of our brands don’t carry vast quantities of stock, so they start production only when we place the order. You can easily track your order by clicking on ‘gift order status’ where you will be able to see what has arrived in our warehouse and what we are still waiting on. You can of course receive multiple deliveries if this is more convenient.
DO YOU HAVE A STORAGE FACILITY?
Yes, we have a fully insured facility where all of your gifts are carefully unpacked and stored until you are ready for delivery.
HOW LONG CAN WE STORE OUR GIFTS? IS THERE A CHARGE?
We offer our couples free storage for up to 6 months from when your last gift arrives in our warehouse.
RETURNS AND EXCHANGES
WHAT HAPPENS IF A GIFT IS DELIVERED DAMAGED OR FAULTY?
We sincerely apologise in advance for any items that you receive in your delivery with a damage or fault. Whilst we proactively do everything that we can to avoid this from occurring, unfortunately breakages can occur whilst your gifts are in transit.
If you receive any items that are damaged or faulty within your gift delivery, please ensure that you contact us within 7 days of receipt, and we will be delighted to arrange a replacement for you.
HOW DO I ARRANGE TO RETURN A GIFT THAT IS DELIVERED IN A DAMAGED OR FAULTY CONDITION?
If in the unfortunate event that you receive a damaged or faulty item, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, including the following information:
- Your full name
- Postcode used to register your account
- Details of the item that is damaged or faulty
We will then respond to your request as soon as possible regarding the next steps.
I HAVE RECEIVED MY GIFTS, BUT AM UNSURE ABOUT SOME OF THEM. CAN I RETURN THESE?
It is of paramount importance to us that you are delighted with your final gift selection, and we pride ourselves on offering the flexibility and the option to change your selection up to the point that you confirm your order with us. Therefore, we unfortunately do not accept return requests for any unwanted gifts once you have taken receipt of your delivery, other than items that are delivered damaged, faulty or differ from their advertised description
I GOT MARRIED SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND HAVE BROKEN SOME OF MY WINE GLASSES. DO YOU HOLD A RECORD OF MY LIST?
We understand accidents happen and the odd dinner party can end with a few breakages! We keep a record of what gifts you had on your list for 15 years after your wedding date. This is our little way of helping you replace anything that may have get broken, or perhaps add onto your dinner service when your family begins to grow!
