Sculptor and designer Julian Sainsbury is recognised for his collection of exquisite Kitchenware, Serveware and Tableware. His designs are known for their pared-back aesthetic, neutral palette and finely judged simplicity. Leading chefs and discerning cooks and foodies around the world are coming to appreciate the sculptural form and the excellent function of his enduring design classics.
In 2013, finally losing patience with the restrictions of conventional mass manufacturing, he set up his own artisan workshop in Wiltshire. Here he uses traditional methods including hand throwing and a hand jolley, which allow him and his small team of skilled colleagues to bring more character to each piece. Every piece of stoneware and porcelain in the range is created and fired in the Wiltshire workshop.
In a recent feature in The World of Interiors Ruth Guilding praised his commitment to keeping "the art in artisan" and "combining a sculptor’s eye with the traditional methods of producing ceramics".
